What to buy

What do you buy for the man or woman who has everything? My advice is to ask them rather than risking making an expensive mistake, and sometimes the answers you get throw up things you would never have thought of. For instance I found out today that someone I know wants a purple clock for Christmas, what if the man in your life really wanted some ball lock pins or a pipe wrench above all else, how would you find that out without asking them outright?

I know that presents are basically supposed to be a surprise on Christmas morning, but let's face it there are good surprises and bad ones. Unless you are willing to accept an 'Oh Thanks...' through gritted teeth, may advice is if you don't know what they want for goodness sake ask them before you pay out good money...
