The age of health and safety

Most people who's business life is touched by the cold hand of the Health and Safety Officer will have developed a disregard of Health and Safety standards because they seem to have come from our 'Nanny' Culture. However you only need to be aware of a single serious injury or death which could have been prevented with good application of H&S standards to heighten the reality of how Health and Safety really should be observed.
Though we may yearn after the 'good old days', we often forget that years ago, some jobs carried their specific hazards like those that came into regular contact with asbestos and ended up with Mesothelioma. Many things that were acceptable in the past are now covered by legislation which is designed to keep us safe.
